i got 1 really good answer but i would really like someone to tell me a little more about law enforcement please!!! =]

hi! im currently signed up as a criminal justice major... im going to be a freshman in the fall. I always thought i wanted to be a forensic scientist but after years of thinking this was my future, im having some doubts. I love law enforcement and was also thinking about the FBI... other than that, I am obsessed with theatre and have been singing for 11 years... i also act and just started dancing and am pretty good at tap. gahh i love it... so theatre is my passion but i know it wont pay the bills... lol my voice coach wants me to move to new york and get an agent and vocal coach up there... im thinking about it... maybe transferring to a college there?? im pretty smart and have good grades. im going to Florida Atlantic University but definately do not want to stay there. I was thinking about university of Central Florida but i kinda wanna go out of state... is there any career associated with a theatre major that doesnt just involve chasing a dream?? should i double major?? can someone tell me about the FBI??? i already know everything about forensic science... please help me!?!?!

im definately minoring in vocal performance no matter what....

i love solving puzzles and always need to know "why"... i will not stop until i figure things out

10 points best answer!!!

  1. For your future I suggest law because it will help you more later in life. Is it possible to major in law and get a minor in musical theatre?

  2. Criminal Justice won't get you very far in the world of Law Enforcement. Those are both degrees that will leave you poor. The FBI has no interest in criminal justice majors, actually most police forces don't care. If it must be one of the two then do theatre because you would at least be happy with what you do, since it is your passion. If you want to do forensics you should study...ummmm...forensics. If you want to join the FBI you need at least a Bachelor's and work experience. The most sure fire way to join the FBI is an accounting degree, a couple years work experience as an accountant, and then pass the CPA exam. Accounting is the #1 degree they are looking for. Criminal Justice is only good if you want to be a probation officer or some other lame job.

Oh, and all Government agencies like the FBI, CIA, and NSA are all looking for extremely proficient speakers of certain foreign languages. Spanish and French wouldn't cut it. If you can master Farsi you'd be in like Flynn.

  3. I myself do not know much about theater. I do understand you need a profession that will pay the bills. I was in the same situation, I was enrolled to take Criminal Justice - Administration of justice and then realized it wasn't what i wanted. check everything out on the career in mind such as pay, your own personal enjoyment, requirements and what not. I changed my major and now will be taking Diagnostic Medical Sonography. then after continuing for anesthesiology.

you can go to www.bls.gov/oco for information on careers and its a government website so that should be very helpful.

I would say if Criminal Justice is what you truely want and so is music then Double majoring could be a possibility for you. remember to be realistic with your choices. good luck on your journey.
