hi thank you so much for even looking at this question. hopefully you can help me! i have 3 questions for math homework. sounds easy but they're writing questions.

the first one is:explain the difference in naming lines, segments, and rays. which of these, if any, have unique names or a finite number of names? explain.

#2: draw a diagram that shows an angle that you cannot name by using a single letter. explain. (i know u cant draw on here but you can just explain what i should draw)

#3: explain why you cannot name a plane by three collinear points that lie in the plane.

thank you so so so much!!! i already tried doing these problems. i looked in my textbooks, i asked friends (they didnt know either), i searched online but i found nothing! thank you again!

  1. 1- a line can be named by stating 2 points on the line (any 2 points because it goes on forever in both directions)

    a ray is named by the point it starts and any other point on the ray

                  A--------B------C------>

    this ray can be named ray AB or ray AC but no matter what it must  always have the name of the starting point A in the name

    a segment must be named by the start point of the segment and the end point of the segment

                  A-----------------------------D

    this segment would be named AD because the start point is A and the end is D

    2- if you name an angle you can name it by naming the vertex point along with two other points on separate rays starting at the vertex.

    the vertex point name must always be the middle letter

    Angle ABC has vertex B and off it are two rays BA and BC that form the angle

    3- because 3 collinear points look like this

                  a---------b---------c

          if you were to name a plane by these points, the plane could be any plane that lies on these points which is infinite (think of the 3 points forming a segment or a pole that you can put boards on that will be in the same plane as the pole, you can put an infinite number boards assuming they could go through each other)
