  1. Karlee is horribly wrong.

There are 27 cubic feet per cubic yard.

    3 ft = 1 yd

    (3 ft) cubed = (1 yd) cubed

    3^3  ft^3 = 1^2  yd^3

    27 cubic feet= 1 cubic yard

    ---------------------------------

So we have to find the volume in feet which is

    width x length x height

    14 ft x 16 ft x 0.5 ft   (note 6 in is half a foot, or 0.5 feet)

    =112 ft^3

Now we convert cubic feet to cubic yards (27 cubic feet per cubic yard). Then we convert yards to cash (70 dollars per cubic yard)

    (112 ft^3)(1 cubic yard / 27 cubic feet) = 4.15 yd^3

    (4.15 yd^3)(70$ / 1 yd^3) = $290.5

    $290.50 is your final answer!
