1. There isn't really a minimum age, it's more a question of maturity.

Gas perms can take 2 weeks to a month to get used to, and the daily wearing time is shorter that with soft lenses, so the maturity to follow Dr's orders is very important.

They can be a lot more difficult to wear , and usually not as comfortable, but when there is no other choice....

They can run from maybe 125.00 to 180.00 for the pair, and are usually good until the next prescription change....1 or 2 years.

They require special cleaning solutions made especially for them, and are quite expensive compared to solutions for soft lenses.

Infections are very rare with them though, and they do allow much more oxygen to the eye. So, yes they are a healthy lens type to wear.

The more common problem with them is corneal abrasions and scratches on the cornea, which means leaving them off for several days when that happens.

But, all in all, many people wear them for years and rarely have problems.

Good luck with them, I hope they work out for you.

  2. You can be any age to see an optician. Gas permeable lenses could be expensive. Try 2020vision4less for a big discount.

  3. RGP's are not for every one and they are primarily use to correct astigmatism and if you don t have that then i wouldn t recommend them. you also have to be responsible and take care of them and your eyes. they cost 180.00 and up in this location

  4. i started wearing them two years ago so i would have been 13! My eyes are small and i have not had any infections at all. Mine cost roughly £100 a year. and i get a new pair every year and get cleaning solutions every 3 months. i love my lenses :D

they do move about on your eye and at first that is abit uncomfy but after a week or two you'll be fine. They only move to let air get to your eyes!

Hope you enjoy having them as much as i do!!
