My parents are pretty open minded and tend to be understanding, i want to convince them to take me out of home school and into a public High School... I've been to a public school for middle school and 2 & 1/2 years of High school, (explaining why i got out of it will take too long; not a big issue) I'm really bored with my life in home school, i only still talk to a couple friends from high school but can't really relate because we cant talk about the hot guy in class and stuff like that. it sux! I can't make new friends in home school because I do my work at home with my mom and brothers.. I really don't want to miss out in High School, it'd be my last chance to get in high school because i'm in 12th grade.I'm quite determined, and i'm not gonna mess up! I'm a good student, i'm passing all my classes.. . . . But however this reason won't sell to my parents (being bored and wanting to make new friends) , PLEASE HELP ME CONVINCE THEM!!! what can i say? what are any good reasons for me to go back to a public high school?

* they also feel this school would be a bad influence on me.. gangs, drugs, all that.

  1. let them go to the school and talk with the teachers and principle and take a tour of the school to show them that it wont be a bad influence on u. and get them to talk to some of ur friends, if u can show them that ur friends r ok in that school then u will too. u just have to keep at it until they cave

  2. Well, there are home school organizations where you can have social interactions and even get involved in clubs. I guess the way I look at it is this, school is for learning, not socializing. You don't have that much time to talk anyways in class, and very little time in between classes. I personally think that most public school systems are corrupt for kids nowadays. It's not all about an education anymore, but popularity, bullying, stereotypes and who has the best football team. While in homeschool, you can strictly concentrate on your studdies and keep them separate more easily from your social life.

  3. well tell them its time and u will choose a good school and if u get good grades they will leave u in highscool

  4. Tell them that most people never get into gangs and drugs.  If you have been getting good grades, emphasize that going to high school will allow you to get more challenging courses.  Throw in something about how people who go to high school tend to have better social lives later on in life, and that many people who are home-schooled often fall behind the pace of an actual high school.

Good luck, and hope this helps!

  5. well drugs gangs would be a good reason to want to keep you out of that school.  But I know that type of thing is in pretty much every school.  so you can point that out to them and another thing is trust,  they need to trust themselves that they raised you well enough to trust you that you can survive.  Let them know that another parent said the biggest problem young people have is not having survival skills no level of education will help you more then having survival skills in life.  so take this to them and see if it helps you need to get out in the real world and the sooner the better.

  6. ouch tough situation. Well you could try just talking to them on how you feel you are missing out on the advantages of being school, like learning to socialize with your peers. You could also use their argument against them, if school was so bad, wouldn't everyone be home schooled?

Prove to them you are responsible enough not to get involved in drugs and everything else and tell them you are nearly an adult so they should take your views into account.

Also try asking for a trial period, as in you go for two weeks to see how it goes, more than likely if they agree to that they'll just let you stay on permamently.
