Last spring I had a fracture in my femur, that was in march. I started training for cross country in July as instructed by my dr. I had severe knee pain. He said it was os good slaughters syndrome. That's when my patella tendon becomes inflamed nad will really hurt. I had to quit cross country due to lots of swelling. He said rest and ice. My knee has been throbing all day. I iced and haven't done anything but swimming in the last few weeks. What should I do to ctrl my pain. I will give best answer 10 points. Thanks

  1. You need to get an accurate diagnosis and cause of your knee pain. There is a reason why it is becoming swollen and painful. Os Good Schlatters is normally seen in young boys between the age of 12-16 who participate in a lot of jumping activities - such as basketball, football.

I would highly recommend you seeing a sport physiotherpist for accurate diagnosis. Pain after swimming is slightly a concern, and I wouldnt think OsGood Schlatters would be flared up during swimming.

Rest and ice is important for the meantime. Always wear supportive shoes like joggers and runners for now, to reduce any extra twisting motion at the knee due to ill supportive shoes.

Really important to get an accurate diagnosis, only so much we can help you with over these forums. There are literally hundreds of things that could go wrong with a knee!

  2.   I think the liniment offered at www.bruiseremover.com would be very helpful to you.  It is an herbal formula based on a centuries-old Chinese liniment that was used in the famous Shaolin Temple by Kung Fu masters to prevent bruising during their arduous training.  It has been used world-wide, and so far, it has received nothing but compliments.  You can check out the credentials of the Kung Fu master who personally makes it by going to www.briangray.com .  He guarantees this liniment.

  3. One thing i have to say is that the swimming did not help. But try bio-freeze around it because it might be muscles around the knee or ankle. But you still need to do ice for 15 min then a heating pad for 15 min do this for about an hour or 2.
