Hi, im currently not a vegetarian but i think i wanna be one. I currently do eat meat but i havent for the past few days. I like the taste but after i eat it i feel sooo bad and the picture of someone chopping the head off of the animal stays in my mind. EWWW!!! My mom sayd i shouldnt but she isnt against it or anything cuz she used to be one while she was in medical school or whatever. She said that your hair falls out from it. Is it healthy to be a vegetarian? Also, im 14, 5'6 or something and i weigh 105 so would it make me lose weight? PLZ HELP!!!!!! Is it hard to find stuff to eat and do you normally lose weight from it? Thanx!

  1. well im not against vegetarians but its hard to get your protein including all the different types of amino acids that are essential for your body without meat and .Yes you can get them from different types of heath powders you can make as a drink but they are gross and you can get them all from certain foods i believe..i personally love animals too and dont like meat either but for my own health i eat meat at least 3-4 times a week.Eat meat its fine(remember it is natural to kill an animal for food i wish it was done in a more humane way) but if you decide to become a vegetarian dont do it for the label and make sure you get all the types of amino acids or you can get sick...good luck

  2. if your mom's hair was falling out then she was doing something wrong. Eat a meat supplement like tofu or soy and make sure you take a daily vitamin. You still need all your daily nutrients regardless if you eat meat or not.

  3. Just to warn you, the girl who advised you to take fish oil pills is definitely not correct. Taking a supplement made from the oils acquired from a dead animal does indeed go against a vegetarian diet. Wanted to throw that out.

  4. Well.

Your hair does not fall out. I have friends who have been vegetarians all their lives. And they still have hair. I am a vegetarian, 14 years old. It will make you lose some weight, but not a lot. It isn't hard at all to find stuff. Just get everything Morning Star, they have the best fake meat. You may also want to take fish oil pills for protein, they also sell chews of the pills. You do normally lose some weight. And, I do recommend that once you are a vegetarian that you eat more vegetables, nuts, fruits, and eggs than normal.

  5. Most Americans eat very poorly.  They do NOT eat balanced diets.  The average American eats something like this: a bagel with cream cheese and a fattening coffee drink for breakfast (no fruit, no whole grains); a sandwich with dead flesh and chemically clotted cow's breast milk and white bread for lunch with some fried potatoes or other chemical "chip" or "cheeto"; for dinner, something with chicken and maybe a potato or MAYBE a salad (iceberg lettuce for minumum nutrition).

No one would tell someone like this their diet is "unbalanced" because they are eating meat.  But this person will be obese, probably have diabetes and eventually develop cancer.

I have the thickest, lushest hair of anyone I know and I've been a vegan since I was a teenager (a good 20 years).  Your mom is either lying or she never graduated from medical school.

  6. It can be hard to be a vegetarian, evolutionarily we are meat eaters.  But physically people react differently.  Some people do fine, some eventually have health problems that force them to change a bit.  Your mom sounds like a great resource.  Just do research on it to find the best way to keep up the proteins and things your body would normally get from meats.  Remember, plants are alive too...this is just the world we live in.

  7. its healthy to be a vegetarian as long as you get enough proteins through beans, soy, and dairy.
