PLZ HELP! I was informed

from this site that i shouldnt run everyday soi started running everyother i get lazy and then dont rly have the energy to run when im supposed to so can i do something when im on my no run dys to kee me excercising tht still will help me run cross country? and is 27 mins for 3 miles good?

  1. Cycling is excellent for cross training.  This will help you with endurance (doing long rides 15+ miles) and the hills will help with your cardio.  This can help improve on your speed for running as well.  And yes 27mins is pretty good.

  2. I agree that you shouldn't overwork yourself, and that you should defineitly alternate between crunches/push-ups and running, but 20-30 minutes and 3-4 miles a day for 5 days a week can't hurt. Lol you totally get brownie points for riding your bike more that 8 miles on your days off.

    But you shouldn't worry too much. Your coach will get you guys in shape.

  3. Work your core/upper body on off days. Situps, pushups, weights, etc.

    As for the time, it depends. If you're running high school cross-country, you'll want to improve the time by at least six or seven minutes.

  4. If you are in cross country, you should be running every day. Whoever told you that was very, very wrong. So don't worry about off days, just get out and run five days a week (six max).
