Once you have cooked your rice what is the best way to store it in the refrigerator so that it doesn't become hard? How do you reheat it so that it is nice and soft again like it was when it was first prepared?

I never have been able to get my already cooked rice to become a good leftover.

Any help and tips you can give me will be so appreciated.

I always pick best answer.

Thank you so very much for taking the time to answer my question.

  1. Those new microwave steamer bags are TERRIFIC! Just follow the instructions.

I never used to make broccoli (too much hassle & I never got it right). With these steamer bags, I chop up the florets and use one of these bags. In 3 minutes, I have perfect broccoli.

    Really super!

  2. You need an air-tight plastic container;-} Tupperware or Zip-Loc bag.

You could freeze it, if longer storage time is required.

    When re-heating, put <1/4" of water in a fry-pan & bring to a boil.

Add the rice, stirring in water, & cover with a pot-lid if possible.

Remove when water has mostly evaporated, & rice is steamed.

  3. store in a zip lock bag.  When reheating try to use the microwave and heat in the same zip lock bag for about a min, then remove and place in a bowl or plate cover and micro about another 90 sec or less til hot enough for you.

  4. Sometimes my mom would put the left overs in the fridge and she would reheat it later.

  5. A couple of things -

    1.  Rice goes bad pretty quick so if you are cooking twice as much as you need to save time, use the rest tomorrow.

    2.  I keep my leftover rice in a freezer baggie.  Seal it and squeeze all the extra air out.  Then seal if completely and put in in the fridge.

    3.  When you are ready to use it again (next day?) either put it in the microwave if you wish (I personally don't use microwaves) or use a pot that has a tight fitting lid.  Add a couple of table spoons of water to the pot and warm it up with the lid on.  Once it is hot, add the rice.  Let it sit for a minute or so, stir, then replace the lid and check it again in a minute or two.  You do not want to over cook it just warm it up.

    Enjoy!

  6. My mom always make a lot of rice and has some leftover so she puts the rice in a bowl and covers the bowl with a plastic wrap and puts it in the fridge. I don't think the rice becomes hard because we usually eat it when we don't make enough rice and need more. All we do is microwave it for a few minutes and it should be fine.

And don't eat the rice if mold is growing or its super yellow.

  7. I store my leftover rice in ziploc bag. Just add a small amount of water to the rice when you reheat it. It will rehydrate the rice.

  8. First of all, it depends on what type of rice you enjoy.

I store left over rice in an air-proof container (Tupperware) in the refrigerator. (Never leave rice sitting out on the counter. It develops bacteria very fast)

I spray the rice with a misting of water and microwave it.  Its very nice the second time after misting and microwaving
