PLZ help, what does contacting authorities mean here?what can they do?

ok, a while ago I got banned from a forum becauz I had more than one account there. I didn't know this policy and it was not written on their rules. anyway, they banned my ip address. I didn't try to go back to the website. But they told me that they may contact the authorities. What can they do?Can they contact my ISP or what? I am in canada they are in US. my internet connection is suspended or terminated now. but since it is not under my name cant figure what the problem is.

The authorities in the US is basically the police or government. They really can not do anything for a minor problem such as that.

It really just depends, what website did you go on and boy how did that make it so serious? Let us know so we can check it out. =)

Having more then one account on a forum is not against the law it might be against the forum rules but definitely not illegal and unless you did do something illegal on the forum contacting the authorities was just a bluff on their part since authorities would not care if you have more then one account on a website since there are real crimes to take care of. As for your internet connection being suspended it is mostly likely another problem not the one you describe maybe the bill wasn't paid or there is some other issue causing it call your ISP and ask what is up with your connection you will still be banned from the website but that shouldn't of cause a lost of service
