Hey whats up u guys, well Ive been taking mEtformin for about a 1 mth 1/2 now was first on 500mg now on 1500 mg a day and taking a prenatal vitimin doc prescribed, I was put on this med to regulate my cycles so my brain can send a signal to my body to make and release an egg. The problem is at first i had a light bleeding for like 2 days.Well accouple of days ago at night I had some bad sharp pains in my lower abdomen and it has went away but ive since been feeling really sick not throwing up though, gas, diahrea cramps i dont wanna eat anything cause i get nasusea , i feel tired and weak the works. whats going on here , are these side effects are should i take a pregancey test, are should i tell my doc to take me off this stuff

  1. For people with insulin resistance, Metformin has been shown to regulate menstrual cycles.  It worked for me.  However, metformin never caused any bleeding for me; however, it does cause stomach upset at first--eventually this will pass.  Two months after taking Metformin, I was pregnant; however there's no way for me to know if it was the drug or something else.  You should take a pregnancy test, but I wouldn't give up on the Metformin just yet.  It really takes awhile for your system to get used to it.  It will be well worth it though--i had more energy; craved sweets less; lost weight; and achieved pregnancy.  Just hold on girl.


  2. im not sure i understand this question, because metformin is for diabetes, dont think it has anything to do with regulating your cycle.  are you sure thats the correct medicine?  I've been a diabetic 20 years so Im very familar with metformin

  3. That doesn't sound right cuz im on met 4 pcos and don't have any of those symptoms...see ur doc
