PMDG Boeing 747 PFD/ND & upper EICAS Screens go blank (Flight Simulator 2004)?

I've got a couple of files to load the PMDG 747 up in a cold and dark state. But after a few seconds, those three screens go blank (:-S) so I'm wondering what this could be?

My guess is a corrupt PanelState file, but surely that would cause Flight Simulator, and the whole plane to seize, surely?

  1. First guess would be a corrupt installation.

Second guess would be a lack of power.  Make sure you have power source set to AUTO, batteries on, etc., in order to make sure you have power to the avionics.  If you are on batteries alone, the avionics will eventually die when the batteries run slow (which they tend to do much more quickly in the sim than in real life).

Make sure your cold-and-dark files have batteries turned off, unless you also have ground power enabled and sourced, otherwise FS might think the batteries are dead as soon as you load the flight.

  2. Flight Simulator questions belong in the "GAMES" section.  The "TRANSPORTATION category is for questions about real, tangible aircraft, not pretend ones from a computer game.

  3. I'm guessing that your panel .cfgs are corrupted; however, this might not be the case. Does the same problem occur when you load the aircraft in normal conditions (not "cold and dark")? If it doesn't, then the cold and dark state is probably corrupted and if it does, then you should probably install the aircraft again to see if it solves the problem.

Hey, just an afterthought. If the PMDG Boeing 747 is THAT realistic, you might have to flick some switches (like APU batteries, etc.) or press some buttons to operate the screens.

    Good luck!
