PNG interlaced or not ?

When I save a Photoshop file as a PNG, I have the option of "interlaced" or "no interlaced". What does it mean ? and When should I choose the "interlaced"? And when should I choose the "no interlaced"?

  1. Let me give a little background information.
    (I am not taling about PNG, I am talking about videos, but let me explain)

    1080p is 1,920 x 1,080 pixels
    1080i is the same thing, it's just the image is 'interlaced' (that's what the i is)

    1080p is considered to be better.

    No need to interlace.


  2. Interlace is a past of the the future. With internet download speeds over 40mb/sec that is really not an issue. No one uses interlaced nowadays. Fullstop!
