POLL: Did John McCain make a very smart political move by choosing Sarah Palin as his VP running mate?

Regardless of party affiliation, do you think that John McCain was extremely smart choosing a woman has his running mate? Some of the people who supported Hillary said they would vote for McCain if Hillary didn't make it, or not vote at all! Obviously McCain is pandering to the female voter (and possibly Hispanic voter since Hillary had that vote locked in).

And this is the g*y man in me thinking -- does the fact that Sarah Palin is an attractive woman make a difference?

P.S. Is it just me, or has McCain's wife had her skin pulled a little too tight?

It was a very, very shrewd political move.  We'll just have to see how it pans out.

This choice shows McCain is more interested in winning the election then governing the country.

He needed a minority on his ticket and with going with her I think he hurt himself. She will help with “the women” but she is going to hurt him when it comes to issues except for the people with far right opinions. I think he would have been better off with Senator Joe Lieberman. He has experience that she does not, he is Jewish (it would help in some ways and hurt in others), he use to be a Democrat and now is an Independent so it would have shown McCain wanted to be bipartisan, plus Lieberman would have brought some moderate liberalism.

Given the scandals she's involved in back in Alaska and other crazy stuff she's done it'll be interesting to see if she makes it to November without being dumped.

And yes McCain has a thing for pretty ladies.  His first wife was a beauty queen.

His second wife was a beauty queen.

Palin is a runner-up beauty queen.

One of his campaign managers is a looker.

hmmmm seems like a trend.

This is a pathetic, transparent choice made out of desperation.
