  3. Hi SKYCAT  :-)

Sorry but no it is habbitt plus i seem to continue to rince my tooth brush why brushing, then i use another whitening tooth polish then mouth wash so i tend to leave it running rather than keep turning it on and off.

  4. of course!!  Haven't you seen barney?

  5. Sure do! I saw this cartoon at school when I was young showing a kid leave the water running and the pond outside emptying and leaving the fish with no water. It scared me when I was younger so I've kept up the habit of turning it off.

  6. I was taught as a young child to be aware of waste and to always eat all the food on my plate....etc...however, I think I just sort of forgot about the closing the refrigerator door when putting groceries away or turning off the tap when brushing my teeth until I first lived on my own and had to pay the water and electricity bill!

Now, if someone else is letting the water run while brushing teeth, I get this clenched up feeling inside me that is frustrating! It doesn't go away until either they turn it off or I reach over and do it for them!

My best friend and former roommate does this and it wasn't until I stayed at her parents house with her that I realized her mom leaves the fridge door open all the time, and water running too!  ARGH.....

  7. Yes,  no one should keep water running while they brush their teeth.  It makes me cringe if I see someone being so careless.

  8. If you don't it is just plain wasteful. You shouldn't use more than a cup of water to complete that task.

  9. yes, i do, but my husband leaves it running when he brushes his teeth....drives me crazy...when im in there i cut it off for him lol

  10. Yes, always have.

I'm appalled when I see others let it run.

  11. No.  I catch it in a bowl and flush the toilet with it.

  12. yea-I'm an environmentalist. I took AP environmental science for a college credit and it changed my life.

  13. No because I tend to keep rinsing my toothbrush.

But this is kind of a silly thing to worry about.   For example, most people have the old style toilet in their home.  The new toilets can flush on only 1.6 gallons.  The old ones used 5-7 gallons EVERY flush.   Multiply that by several times a day and times the number of people in the home.    I have new toilets, efficent fixtures, and a front-loading Energy Star washer...   so I'm saving far more water than the average home even if I waste half a gallon when i brush teeth.

Also consider the biggest wastes of water aren't inside the home.  It's landscaping (your lawn sprinkler), high demand water uses (eg. golf couses), and agriculture.    One golf course uses more water in a day than a small city -- just to keep grass green!?     Agriculture: to raise a cow and process it into beef,  it's thousands of gallons wasted PLUS the tens of thousands of gallons needed to grow the field corn and cow soy to fatten him up.   It's something like 8x the land needed and 100x+ the waer needed compared to the same amount of vegetable-based food.

I care about conservation, but I can only fight so many battles so I try to focus on the biggest wastes.

  14. No, but I do the water off in the shower.  After I get wet I turn it off then soap down then rinse off.  This is something I was taught in the Navy aboard a ship where fresh water is limited.

  15. yes, even when i was my face...i take shorter showers too

  16. yes - and when i brush my kids teeth

  17. You bet I do!! We need to save all of our precious resources!

  18. Yes, I do turn off the water when i brush my teeth, it will be helping our environment.

  19. yar trix yar

  20. I usualy forget, it's an old habit.
