Okay, so let's just say...

there is serial killer on the loose...

if you catch him, you get a promotion...

however, as you are catching him (with no back-up)...

you run across a victim, who had just been raped and fatally injured, barely wearing clothes....

who is more important??????????

  1. I'm good at these questions. You say "fatally injured" which means the person WILL die. Had you said seriously or critically injured, it would change the answer. You call for EMS (Ambulance) for the victim and back up for yourself and catch the scum... however, you don't give one thought to a promotion as you are doing it..

  2. the criminal.

you go after the criminal so he does not rape/murder MORE people.

(and you can always go back to the victim)

  3. Your first obligation is to help the victim.....save her life if possible.

You have already violated protocol by not calling for back up..... do NOT compound your error by neglecting the victim.....

While catching the killer is VERY important.....it is not more important than saving a life.

(note: Why the "barely wearing clothes"..... how has her state of dress or undress to do with this situation .... the implication is YOU have a sick mind)

  4. In a situation like this, I would go for the serial rapist because he might hurt more in the end.

  5. first of all you would probably have backup but if on my own i would taser the suspect apprehend him and call dispatch for back up. oh and cover up the victim

  6. Catching the serial killer is more important to me. Not just because of the promotion, but because you can always radio for another unit and ambulance to assist the rape victim. Also, you wouldn't want the killer to have an opportunity to kill again.

Your drive to catch a criminal is most often more prominent than your drive to provide medical assistance. After all that's what you specialize in and why you took the job.

  7. You could go either way and still make an ethical decision.  Personally, while apprehension of the serial killer would be extremely important, I would probably stay with the victim and render first aid.  Depending on the circumstances, keep in mind that the serial killer can be told to stop or be shot if he/she refuses to do so.  This has been upheld in courts do to the fact that the serial killer is a great danger to the public.  Every officer has different priorities.  However, I wouldn't be able to leave someone who was dying.

  8. Definitely the victim . If he his a serial killer he will do it again, hopefully he will be caught before then , if the victim could identify him, there also may be some evidence from the victim that the police can use.

  9. I haven't answered any questions in a while, but I'm going to answer this one.  First off, this is a bad scenario.  You always have back-up.  If it's not a partner, it's your radio.  You are most important at this point.  You're not a doctor, radio for help, and go after the killer.  s***w the promotion, you're out there to do a job.  Just keep in mind that you are in pursuit of a fleeing felon.  "Stop or I'll shoot".

  10. go to the criminal and while doing alert a medic,if you let the criminal run away he will do it again and again.its not about the promotion.

  11. Catch the serial killer, detain him (handcuffs and placed in back of patrol car), check on victim, call EMS and other units.

The catching of a serial killer might be a promotion (although never heard of that) but ignoring a victim would reverse that I would think.

  12. I would help the person who was raped and fatally injured because a person's life to me is more important than a promotion.

  13. wat u do is shoot and kill the killer than try 2 help the victem

  14. you persue the serial killer. Thats your initial call, you can always come on your radio while in foot persuit w/ the serial killer if your that good and advs the dispatch about the raped girl, her inj, and her location. But you never abort your initial call

  15. You would help the victim because the serial killer can always be caught another day but the victim might die if you don't do something now.

  16. You, the police officer.

    Go after the cerial killer.

    (Is this a Trix question.)

  17. There is not a single doubt in my mind who is more important . It would be the innocent person who is hurt and half naked . I would give her anything that I had to cover her up , try to ease her pain , call a hospital and accomapny her to the hospital to see that she was treated and treated well .

Catching a criminal and getting the promotion to me would always be secondary . Catching criminals is my job and I do not need to be rewarded for doing my job.

Passing by that injured person to hope someone else came along to help her would be ( in my opinion ) totally  inhumane and selfish .

  18. The victim who just got raped and fatally injured, barely wearing clothes.

  19. why in the world would you ask this are you a mental case?

  20. Obviously catching the killer is more important.

In situations like this it's all about the math and when you weigh it up, catching a SERIAL killer who has killed many people before and will probably go on to kill more > 1 naked dying woman.

The fact is the woman will probably die from her injuries anyway if she's so bad that she can't wait for you to handcuff the killer
