compassion is very essential.  i would hate to live in a world without it. we could do with a lot more of it.  people seem so uncaring today. (until something happens to them or a loved one)

I think it's a rare virtue these days. A treasure to find in someone who has not lost  compassion.  Society has calloused so many these days. More compassion in needed in the judicial systems, I think

Of course compassion is still essential.  For two days I've been praying for the people down in the Gulf Area, especially New Orleans.  This morning I cried when I was watching the news and my Son laughed at me.  My husband explained to him how important compassion is to have and how he needs to gain more than he has.  Part of what is wrong with this world now is that people has pushed compassion to the back burner and put themselves too much to the front.  We need to love our brothers and sisters a whole lot more and care about them a whole lot more.
