a lot of people believe that the mayan, incan, and aztecs were decimated due to the spanish conquest and expansion. there WERE wars and conflicts but illness was probably the greater cause for destruction of these ancient civilizations. the spanish brought over diseases like smallpox that swept through villages and killed massive amounts of people.

  5. The Spanish came and killed a lot of them.  Those they didn't kill with their swords they killed with their pathogens.

  6. spanish explorers...columbus killed the tinios

  7. Ancestors of the Mayans, Incans, and Aztecs are alive and well in Mexico, Central America, and Peru.  Though many died from famine, illness, and war.  The ancestors took Spanish names and tried to integrate into society, though usually on the lower rungs.

The Taino in the Carribbean did die out.

  8. Inca--

The Inca Empire was conquered by the Spanish in the early 16th century.

    Mayan--

After 900 the Maya mysteriously declined in the southern lowlands of Guatemala. They later revived in the north on the Yucatán Peninsula and continued to dominate the area until the Spanish conquest in the 16th century. Descendants of the Maya still form a large part of the population of the region. Although many have adopted Spanish ways, a significant number of modern Maya maintain traditional cultural practices.

    Aztecs--

Native American state that ruled much of what is now Mexico from about 1428 until 1521, when the empire was conquered by the Spaniards.
