  15. Why would anyone have a favorite species of tree?  Isnt that kinda like having a favorite color or number?  Why bother?

Oak is strong, maple is pretty and resiliant. persimone is hard and great for some things. Hedge makes good bows for archery, elms is good for shade.  Which one do youlike?  It kinda depends on what you want to do!

  16. I LOVE all trees, and yes it depends on what you value trees to do for you -

However, regarding trees just being trees Osage Orange are uniquely kewl, here since the dinosaurs but now they have no disperser/grazer who eats the fruits.

The females have thorns but the males do not.

Also, they do not "bud" but appear to go straight to blossom overnight.  If you have one, when it finally blossoms that means the winter is definitely over in your area.

  17. The London Plane, interesting uses as anti pollution planting in central areas.

  18. I really like larches or the arbutus trees.  Larches are just really nice looking and arbutus because they shed their bark and look really neat.

  19. Ginko biloba - it looks amazing and it was around when the dinosaurs were here and is still about!  Cool.

  20. Yew

    heh, idno

  21. Blue Spruce. I love the frangrance. I also love the fact that my feathered friends find shelter amongst the branches. I use the fallen pinecones in my fireplace during the cold months and immensely enjoy the fragrant warmth.
