The supermarket for convenience, but only as I don't have a local butcher.  I passed a farm shop recently, got very excited thinking 'I've finally found a local produce place' etc etc. only to find it doesn't stock meat...just veg etc.

Would definitely use a butcher or farm shop if one were local.

Usually the supermarket for cost and convenience, I'm afraid. However, if I'm after something special or 'out of the ordinary', I will use a couple of local butchers.

a butcher of course, supermarkets get their meat from a central depot, at times already packaged, butchers however have more options, like hanging a loin for a few weeks, supermarkets dont have that option......find a good butcher. make a good relationship with that butcher, you will never go wrong.....

There is absolutely no comparison between a good local butcher and a supermarket for good fresh meat.

I'm lucky I suppose that I have a good quality butcher who takes the time to cut off all the excess fat etc off any meat that I purchase from him and I'm not buying unwanted waste which adds to the weight and therefore the cost.

Supermarkets are selling mass produce so therefore you would be buying inferior meat.

I must admit, there have been times when I've been pushed for time and whilst doing shopping at the supermarket, I've bought their meat....but boy, you can tell the difference.

Support your local butcher that's what I say....

Always from the butcher .......  gaaah, the meat in the supermarkets are so full of chemicals, preservatives and whatever other nasty stuff they pack in there that it'll be sitting there long after we're dead and gone still "fresh" to eat.
