Anyway, today it's Crete. But if you look in older Greek dictionaries under 'Cyprus' you'll see that it used to say 'the largest Greek island'. But you won't find an entry like that anymore...

Physical features are not subject to change, apart from the ice caps due to melting/global warming, and that's the only part of our planet where cartographers have to contend with dynamic changes and record them.

Crete is the largest Greek islands as every geography book or atlas will tell you.

Peloponese of course . is all surounded by the sea. even its name means the Island of Pelops . I can't understand why everybody skipped it . I mean the Grekks that they suppose to know the Geography of their county and at least to know what is a main land and what is an island. Sorry buddies

Peloponnisos is not an island of course. It is attached to the mainland. The only thing that splits Peloponnisos from the mainland is the Corinthian canal which was finished in 1893.
