My last patient just walked into my room and thanked me for finding his liver cancer 8 months ago.  He said because I looked carefully, he has had surgery and chemo that has now saved his life.

What a wonderful thing for someone to say.  That changed my mood for the "good" today.

You seem as if you have met someone wonderful and are itching to divulge but loathe to let your beautiful secret out. It happens at times someone enters the realms of our imagination, breathing life into our tired spirit, it sis a time to be enjoyed, captured for eternity and cherished for the wonderland it creates in the ordinate world about you. Each man is programmed to view the world from a certain perspective. The world remains relatively constant, it is this perspective causing certain reactions and emotions within us that change. Once this is understood and mastered you are able to be as happy and as loved as your heart desires.

A mystical experience of the Spirit of Christ (sometimes called the Holy Spirit) would be my most life changing contact.I guess it sounds a bit weird though to refer to contact with someone who lived 2000 years ago, but that is my honest answer to your question. There have been physician colleagues of influence, but none compare to Jesus Christ!

Authentic accounts of pain, pain told with elegance and grace, sometimes untold but sensed; accounts encountered on this site that cannot let any true human indifferent and would mark him/her forever. Pain that would make your own sorrows seem so futile and make you feel so shameful. Yes, I lately felt so shameful and petite and I don't know the reason: perhaps partly because of my cowardice, and my inability to help. Couldn't and cannot get over my prior decision to remain the ever present/absent participant on this site.

So yes, these complete strangers living thousands miles away from the place I live changed me without even interacting with them: the realisation that these people are not so different from you; they are as human as you are, and their sharing of their suffering helps lighten your burden.
