POLL: Whos better federer or nadal?

Question

Federer has been ill for alot of 2008, which may have effected his performance this year. But do you think that nadal has over taken federer so soon in terms of greatness. I mean, it was only this time last year that Federer was the master of tennis still.

I think Federer will win the US open as usual so it will be a while before we can know who is the best for sure.

Federer's been in 2 finals. That's pretty darn amazing. He broke records by that. He's broken records and set new ones. He's won a ton of Grand Slams and MStitles, and others, he's much better looking too. His records speak for himself.  His 08 performance isn't perfect, which shocks people who expect perfection from him, who had Mono. Pretty dumb on the part of those who say he's out.

If we are going to compare their present achievements and performances I say Federer  has an edge. But Nadal is only  22. He can further improve his game for the next 5 years. But is you will compare Federer to Nadal at age 22, Nadal is better.

Federer is a great player. However, Nadal is finally on his heels. I must say that Nadal has taken his game to a huge high. Many players, like Federer, never anticipated such a strength in his game. They do have 2 very diffferent playing styles!

Besides the obvious that Rafa is playing extremely well now and Federer is in a serious slump, I think the only fair way to compare them is at the same age. Looking at each of them at 22, there is no comparison. Rafa has 5 slams and Roger had 1.  As much as Fed fans don't want to hear this, at 22, Rafa is only going to get better while Fed is nearing the end of his career. I do think Fed might do some sort of comeback though!  ; )

I am a Nadal fan, but I don't think you can compare the 2. You have to take the age difference into account.  Nadal is only 22, so you have to look at Federer's accomplishments were at that age.  Also what age did both of them turn pro???  How long after turning pro did they win their titles.  

I also don't believe Federer's losses can be attributed to illness.  He was healthy for the French Open and Wimbledon, he just didn't pull through those matches.  In his interviews he said he felt great, and wasn't exhausted or anything.  He was simply outplayed.

well, personally i love nadal more than federer. federer plays some great tennis. but he always trashed his opponent that i didn't have much fun while watching him played.

it's different when i watched nadal. he always chase down the ball every time.

Nadal is a very talented and superb player.. he will surely overcome federer in a few months time.. Nowadays, Nadal can play very well on any kind of surfaces and not only clay.. furthermore he is still young compared to Federer.. So, all in all, Rafael Nadal will be the world no.1 very very soon !!!

Well Nadal is  right now, and most likely for the rest of ever. At the end of this week, no matter what happens Nadal will be the #1 player in the world. This is because Fed still had 350 points from last years Rogers Cup. At the end of the week Fed will lose the 350 points, and nadal will only lose 5 points. About the US open i do not think that Fed or Nadal will win, i think it will be Novak Djokovic. Since he won the Australian Open.

They both are amazing players but like you said federer has been ill and through a rough patch. I'm sorry but as a federer fan, i'm biased and think federer is actually better. But Nadal is closing in on him.. :D

Roger Federer is the better player

however he is not playing like at the moment.

But hopefully he'll back in time to win everything he enters in the rest of 2008 like he was meant to!
