of your car.

Though you slam on the breaks, you hit the animal. Would you

stop to see how injured the animal was? If you did so and found

that the dog was dead but had a name tag, would you contact the

owner?

  1. by law you have to stop, report the accident to the police, they inform the owner, they the pet owners are responsible for any damages to your car, as that dog should not be roaming the streets unleashed.

  2. yes i would do all of that but i would stay far away from the owners because if someone killed my dog i would beat them unconsious then throw them in a lake :) lol

  3. I would contact the owner.  I think it's against the law not to?

I would feel guilty as sin.

  4. I would hope you would call the owner and tell them about it.

  5. Yes, they could be worried about the dog but don't tell them you hit it, just tell them you found it dead on the road or they might say something.

  6. no.

i'd let the next person do that!

  7. Or drop the car into reverse and make sure?

  8. first you dont never slam on the brake for any animals.... unless its a cow or something big that you dont want to run into.... sorry thats just not smart...as for checking on sure you can but really what you going to do.. for one.... other than drag it out of the road.... if it had a tag maybe call or check if its right there but ... still nothing you can do for the dog..... but slow down best you can and keep going... slaming on the brakes.... is a big no no.. sound bad but its right.... you could lose control of car wreck kill your self.. or someone else over a dog

  9. Yes.

  10. Yes, It's your responsibility to notify the owner and see what you can do for the dog.

  11. You are legally responsible for making every effort to locate the owner of any domestic animal which you might hit.

If the animal is injured, get it to a veterinarian a.s.a.p. to prevent further injury.

Question:.......wouldn't you want someone to call you if they accidentally hit your dog/cat?

All the more reason for tagging your pet with a contact phone number..............

  12. Stop and see what I can do for the dog and if the area is deserted as you say then I would take the dog to the nearest vet hospital........sorry but I love animals, they are just like people to me.

  13. Who cares if no one saw you....

  14. Probably not.

Shoulda kept it on a leash or something.

  15. ya

  16. yes I would track down the owner, tell him what happened...then inform him that he is liable for the damages, if any, to my car.

  17. I probably wouldn't have slammed on my brakes.

That dog was in a clear violation of the j-walking laws.

  18. yes i would stop and yes i would contact the owner....because if it happened to my dog, i would want to know

  19. yes,i would stop and assess the animal.

yes, i would definitely contact the owner.

i would hope that anyone else would do the same for my pet, if by some chance she were to escape.

  20. I think I will freak out if I killed someone's dog even if it was by accident. I think I will try my best and shift the dog to the side of the road, will be pretty bad if just leave the body there cos other cars might run over the poor dog's body like smashed road kills. Then I will call my parents and I think yes I would contact the owner and explain everything, hopefully the owner will be sensible enough. Hopefully this will never happen to me (killing someone's dog accidentally) and I pray hard never to happen to my dogs.

  21. Ask over in Pets > Dogs if you want answers.

  22. I guess it depends on what you would want someone to do if it was your dog they hit.

  23. I wouldn't approach an injured animal I don't know.  I would probably report it to the police and check back later.

  24. yes, but don't say you did it. You found the dog that way. If you said you did it, and the owners are a bunch of greedy *****, you might get sued, but you should really sue them first if there is any damage to your car.

  25. Actually, in the UK you must report the incident to the police. It is a legal requirement.
