POLL: do you call "soda pop", 'soda' or 'pop'?

I'm just wondering becuase almost everyone calls it a different name.

    My Dad is Egyptian, and he said in Egypt they call everything "Coke" even if it's orange soda or something.


  2. i call it "soda". i dont know why it sounds better to me, than "pop" but when im talking Coca-Cola i say "Pop." don't ask why.

  7. Actually here in Texas, everything is called "coke."  As in, "I want a coke."  "What kind?"  "Dr. Pepper, please."

    I grew up calling it "pop" because my mid-western family called it that.

    Now I mostly call it soda because if you call it "pop" down south here, people look at you strange.

  11. when I lived in Illinois, Wisconsin, and Ohio, I called it pop.  When I lived in New Jersey and now in Florida, I call(ed) it soda.  sometimes I call it soda pop.

I for years used the term "coke".  When I left home for the service it was helarious when I asked what kind of cokes do you have.  This was before all the different types they have today.  Usualy it was we just have one "coke".  Now I use the formal "Soda Pop".  I use the entire phrase and even then I seldom use it simply because I know what kind of soda pop I want before I ask.

  19. Coke is another one. Pop is only for describing a type of f**t. Soda is ok though.

  20. you forgot coke. in some parts of the country people call any soda 'coke'. this perplexed me. what if they want a sprite? i asked someone that was from a place like this. they said they order a 'lemon-lime coke' lol! thought that was pretty funny.

    you should also ask what part of the country they grew up, that greatly affects it.

    and i grew up near oxford in england, but i live in Boston MA now - they all call it soda over here

  22. IL people call it pop and WI people call it soda.  In texas we call it coke!  Just depends where you are!!!!

  25. I call it soda.  I'm from North Carolina, and we also call it Coke, even if it's not coca-cola.  "Coke" in the south can refer to soft drinks.
