  1. Well I have worked in fast food for about 5 years of my life 2 as a manager, I have also worked in slightly higher class restaurants like Chili's or Joe's Crab Shack.

I hated being a manager... Sure my pay was almost up there with my responsibilities... but having a staff of about 70 inbetween 6 managers sucked royal buttock, not to mention 50 of them were 18 or younger.. and about half of those were 16 or younger... It was almost like I was a daycare provider... Very few young people would do their job right the first time.

Being a crew member at fast food is where its at (except for cashiers at the front counter)  you get to work with the same people day in and day out and dont have to deal with the public too much, its not bad.  That part of fast food I enjoyed.

Being a drive thru drawer person was the best... especially in the summer... you learn how to make small talk, and you meet a lot of interesting people, and if you do it long enough you get to know the regulars names.  Lots of fun.

Being a front counter cashier is the worst... even worse than cleaning bathrooms.  People that come inside to fast food joints to order their food... well most of them feel like they have the god given right to just take a dump all over you..  Alot of the people are rude, ignorant, and arses.   They feel the need to show their social status by yelling at the poor guy who is taking their order and feel they are a better person because of it..  That is the only part of fast food I never really enjoyed other than cleaning bathrooms, and inspection days.

Working at Joe's Crab Shack was probably the most relaxed laid back stress free job I've ever had the pleasure of having.   Thats not to say you didn't bust your balls in the kitchen and sweat like a pig.   You worked hard.  And one thing people don't always realize, you had to think hard to be a good cook also.   People who aren't the smartest, aren't the best cooks Ive discovered.  So as a cook its enjoyable because you meet alot of like minded type of people.  Those who like to party.

Being a server in a restaurant is horrible.  Alot of people dont treat you well.  They can be rude, and try to make you run around like you are their personal butler.  If you are going to be a server choose a restaurant where the demographics of the geographical location are medium in things...  Not rich (Ive found rich people tip poorly.) and Not uneducated (uneducated people are the ones who are the most rude usually)  A middle class neighboorhood where people have some money good smarts and have to work hard for it has the best frequency of polite guests and good tippers.

All in all I'd have to say that I enjoyed food service more than I hated it.  Though it had its share of moments on both sides of the spectrum.

  2. I used to work in a fast food restaurant and i worked as a cashier. I hated the job soooo bad because of those demanding, bossy and fussy customers. The fact you're just standing there taking their orders esp those who take forever to decide what to order, sucks big time!

I used to work as a waitress for a party planner and i hate the job just as much.

  4. i worked @ a fast food joint for ONE day, and couldnt stand it, so i made my ex take my uniform in and tell them i wasnt coming back, right after i got off my shift lol.
