My niece who live in New York City.... is named Mya... and I helped with that because I love that name.

Anywhooo... I have friends with hott exotic names.. and when we meet someone from our past.. Elementary / high school.. and they say 'heyy do you remember ___?' and they're like ohh yeah.. cuz its a name you hear once or twice...

sooo in my case.. its like Sarah.. and they're like whats your last name.. lool then they usually get it!

sooo what do you thiink about the name Mya.

all my friends and family will still call me Sarah

Mya will be more of a nick name... but it will be my legal first name

probably make Sarah... my middle name..

thxxs for your comments!

  1. So you don't like Sarah because other people have it, but you want to change it to a name that someone in your family has.  You are a walking contradiction!!!!!/

  2. I don't think its a good idea. Especially since your niece is named Mya, its like you are stealing her name

  3. my friend didnt do it leagally but in 6th grade her name was sarah and she made people call her mei lun which is her middle name but me and other close friends and her family still call her sarah but everyone else calls her mei lun so u could should do it

  4. I vote you stick with Sarah - at least legally.  If you want to tell new friends you meet "call me Mya" that's up to you.

I've gone by my middle name all my life because I have the same name as my father and my parents didn't want people calling me "skip", "junior", etc.  But when you start getting credit cards, passports, driver's licenses etc - it can be a pain in the butt.

So legally, stick with Sarah so you don't have that hassle.

Besides, what's in a name?  If there's other Sarahs (or Saras) at your University hopefully you'll come to be known as "cute Sarah" or "fun Sarah" or something.  Better to be remembered that way than as "the Sarah who wants to be called Mya".

    :)
