  1. it depends on the pppoe software version, check and go to the pppoe vendors site and at least get a update to pppoe

i am sure BT uses someones pppoe,  but remember if you jack the pppoe BT can kill your account

  2. Don't know if this is a legit or hacking related question, but a BT Homehub doesn't use a name and password as such, there is simply a generic "bthomehub" user specified (you can't change it via the *supplied* (hint) firmware) on each and every hub and the phone number (line) you plug it into provides the verification to the BT network that you are allowed on.

  3. You dont need them, when you plaug the home hub into your bt line, because their both from bt bt only need to use your phone number to log you in to the network.

  4. Nobody else will know them. These are sent in 2 letters when you subscribe. The first is the user name, then a second letter for the password for security reasons. Without these you would not be able to connect at all. They are NOT going to affect your use of the router in any way once they are set, you can only use them on the router to make the connection, and have absolutely NO relationship to gaming..

  5. PPPoE is the name of protocol that DSL use to connect to the ISP, no one would know your username and password besides BT itself. In other words the stuff you need is the login information you got from the ISP be it British Telecom, Bell CA, or AT&T, without it you couldn't even go online to begin with. They were just friendlied up in the welcome kit so you didn't even know what they were.

  6. I take it your trying to get onto a wireless connection, but do not have the WEP code. Go to www.nickkusters.com for the factory set WEP code.

If there is a wireless connection floating around that has not had its Modems name changed, so if its still for intstance Speedtouch 2110 then chances are that the owner has not changed the default password. This website allows you to enter the Modem code, ie speedtouch 2110 and it will give you WEP code... So you can hop onto someone elses connection.

  7. It's on the back of the hub.

  8. When BT asks for user name or password its the same ones on your computer when you logon.
