What's the difference between a degree in public relations and one in advertising. Also, how does the job a public relations specialist carry out differ from that of an advertiser. Thank you

  1. The two are completely different. Advertising is an attempt to sell something, whereas public relations is the concept of helping an organization to display a good "immage" to the general public.  A company needs to maintain a good reputation, so that people will trust and believe in them and see them as a good company with which to do business. The people or the department within a given company who's job it is to make this happen are "public relations" people. I  suppose in the end, it's still all about sales, or referrals and to that end, PR is advertising. And, a good ad campaign would have a high degree of PR in their script. Ok, so, they are different but the same. Oh well, I tried.
