im going to create a feature length (if not longer) dvd. possibly more than one. thinking it might take 4 dvds for the whole project.

what are the software options i have?

needs to be a program that can handle such long projects.

i have premier ELEMENTS 4 and it slows down with big projects even on a great system.

was thinking about adobe premier pro cs3?

think it's good enough?

just so you know im not looking for anything fancy like transition effects or other special effects.

it's for an instructional DVD so doesn't have to be artistic.

what are my other options? i prefer not to go over the $1000 limit but suggest whatever you think.

all input appreciated. especially if you have used any premier pro software or used another software you think is good enough to handle it.

thanks guys!!!!

  1. i would go for Adobe Premier Pro CS3 it has everything you need.  I use and its great.  If you get After Effects too you have the full package to make some great stuff.

  2. I would go with Premiere Pro CS3, I don't know why Elements is not working properly for you as it is just a cut down version of the more expensive program.  PP CS3 will have enough effects and transitions built in so you really don't need any more software to add effects.  It will also allow you to work with audio to a certain level and burn your dvd's for you.  It's a one stop shop from capture to edit to burn.

  3. You may try AVS Video Editor which has many great functions. The features in the official site are below:

    1. Direct Transfer to iPod, PSP, Mobiles and Other Portable Players

    2. Supports Virtually ALL Video Formats

    3. Burn Movie DVDs

    4. Capture and Edit Video from External Devices

    5. Edit Video and Enhance Your Movies

    6. Create Slide Shows

    7. Make Perfect Audio for Your Video Editing Tasks

    8. Scene Detection

    9. Convenient Video Editing Tools and Interface

There is the free download link:

  5. Premier is a hard peice of software to learn, and you need good kit to run it, but it does perform well. Avid software is equally good.
