An experiment was designed to determine if chlorophyll is responsible for the growth of corn seedlings toward light. Equal numbers of albino corn seedlings and green corn seedlings were grown at 24o C. All other condition were te same.

The Results: showed both albino seedlings and the green seedlings bent toward light.

Questions:

1) What is the variable?

2)which hypothesis is being tested:

a) Light is required for germination of corn.

b) Differences in genotypes produce variations in corn phenotypes

c) Chlorophyll is needed for corn seedlings to grow toward light

d) Albino corn seedlings grow as fast as green corn seedlings

  1. There are 2 types of variables: Dependent and Independent. D=what you are measuring. I=Is what you minipulate during the experiment.

    The hypothesis is what you think is going to happen at the end of the experiment.

    The Genotype is all of the inherited traits. The Phenotype is what you can observe, see outwardly.

    That's all I can tell you. I can't answer your specifics as we observed flowering plants. (I had trouble in Biology, too).


  2. The variable is the seed colour.

    The hypothesis being tested in C

    The result found that D refutes the theory of C.
