I have an idea of using some type of burlap , maybe plastic tablecloths ....such and some tall garden stakes ..Yet I don't want it to look too tacky :).Any helpful tips , advice ideas ,,,,We live on a corner house and do have a huge yard ....We would like some privacy with all the busy street traffic and passerbys ....Thanks !!!

  1. If you have trees, you can hang clothesline and hang plastic tarps (if they have the grommets, you can stake at the bottom to keep them secure).

  2. Your ideas should work - Get a white or other solid color tarp or some tablecloths with a decent weight. On the side facing the street, paint it with "Happy Graduation, Class of 2008" and whatever else you want. Paint it in school colors - you can even get some Sharpie pens and have everyone sign it when they come in. If it is thick enough, paint both sides. Make sure to take a group photo in front of the sign - that would be really cool.

You will want to weight down the bottom edge, so buy some inexpensive bricks or use large rocks, if you have those available. You only need to make it about 5'-6' tall. This will give you the privacy you want. Just make sure that the BBQ and any other sources of fire are well away from the tarp.

You should be able to pick up some inexpensive paint tarps at Home Depot along with your garden stakes. You can get the tablecloths at a party supply store or Walmart.

    Have fun and happy graduation.
