  1. Playing on the UNC team isn't as hard as you would think.  According to Anson Dorrance's book The Vision of a Champion, UNC has a no-cut policy so to make the team, all you have to do is get into the school and try out.  Of course, if you aren't good enough to be playing there you'll be upstaged in a highly competitive atmosphere every single day and receive no playing time which is a situation most people wouldn't want.  As for getting on the women's national team, the key is getting recognized in college.  You can get noticed at just about any Division I school (current U.S. captain Christie Rampone went to Monmouth which is by no means a good soccer school) but you have a better shot if you go to a power-house like UNC, UCLA, USC, Portland, Notre Dame, etc.  As for what you can do right now, try out for your region's ODP (olympic development placement) team.  Once you're in high school, start sending letters to coaches whose schools you would like to play at.  Good luck, you'll need a heck of a lot of it to make it on the national team.
