for as long as i can remember i have been highly interested in the paranormal. i know many of you reading this are thinking (just another guy who saw Paranormal state and wants to get on tv). thats not true. i am a huge fan of the show though. I've had the PRS site saved to my favorites for years. MY Questions are...... Is PRS (paranormal research society) just a club or is a class too? what classes are their at penn state associated with the paranormal? studies mostly on hauntings or anything to add to my studies on the subject. im only 17 so i've got some school left before i need to worry about college, i've already written a few books/documentaries (not published) so any input on penn state would be helpful.

  1. PRS isn't officially affiliated with Penn State University.  I saw no mention of any paranormal courses.  There are a few schools out there that do offer classes in the paranormal, but no major accredited university offers a degree.  Before you get too hopeful about a career you might want to ask yourself why this course work isn't offered.

  2. I am a 10-year veteran of paranormal investigation and a 3-year paranormal researcher at a local university. Unfortunately, most universities have few classes on the paranormal, if any. I know some of the more prestigious universities do, such as Princeton. I just applied to Penn State for my Ph.D., and to my knowledge they do not have courses. The research team was started by a student at Penn State and isn't affiliated otherwise. If you are serious about the paranormal, you can follow in my footsteps by reading my web site or emailing me, I'm glad to help!

  3. It is a club just like a baking club nothing more.

It has no academic affiliation with Penn State.

If you wish to undertake the scientific study of parapsychology. I have provided links for you below. Only one university is in the U.S. and they only offer a minor in parapsychology with a major in psychology at the undergraduate level.

However, most people that work in the field of parapsychology have doctorate degrees in a conventional science (physics, chemistry, psychology, etc.)

I have included a link for you to the Parapsychological Association below. All full members are required to hold doctoral degrees.

  4. PRS is both a class and a club and you could find more info at this site.
