Question:

PS3 AND PLAYSTATION NETWORK?

by  |  earlier

I just bought a ps3 and want to get on the network. I have a wireless router (netgear) but don't know any details about it or how to figure it out. When I try to connect it says it failed due to a DNS error. My wireless system works fine for my laptop and wii. Please help! I am not tech savvy and will need coached through any changes I need to make with any part of either component.

  1. What PS3 do you have?.. The lower model ones (40gb) dont support wireless.

  2. i have a 40gb and it has wi-fi so stfu answerer #1. well, you may have a wpa/wep key on your router. or, maybe your router firewall blicks your ps3. you need to get into your browser (firefox or internet explorer) and open your router settings from there. try to ask your parents about your router settings.  ihave my router configures so it only accepts signals from my ps3, psp and laptop so that my neighbors can;t steal my wireless :p

i dunno what you your router is so i dunno what you need to tyope on your address bar to access the router settings, but that;s how i do it.

if your parents don't know how to access the router settings through your pc, call the company that manages your internet and they will give you the instructions. cheers.

    EditL

type your ip address on the address bar of your internet browser. to access your ip address. go to Start->Run-> (or hold Windows key + R)

    type cmd

then, when cmd is running, type ipconfig /all

look for the numbers under Default Gateway i.e. 192.168.111.112 or something.
