Question:

PS3 HDMI CABLE- WHY WON'T IT WORK?!?!?!?!?

I've just bought a PS3 and pro evolution soccer 2008.

Firstly, when I connect the PS3 to my TV using the red, yellow and white cable it works fine on AV 3. However, when I tried using my HDMI cable and putting my TV on the HDMI channel nothing happens, NADA!!!! It's just a blank screen. I was wondering what was wrong -the cable, the TV or the PS3. I have tried swapping the cable around and changing different settings but it just won't work.

HELP ME PLEASE!!!

  1. Go to video settings and choose HDMI output.

Whenit goes black switch to the HDMI channel.

    Bingo

  2. Keep the cable plugged in and then turn ur switch on and leave the red light blank. Then hold down on the red light for like 5 to 10 seconds and then it will beep like 3 times then it is switch

  3. your t.v might not be set on hdmi yet so go on your t.v settings and see if hdmi is enabled if not then enable it then see if it works or you might be on the wrong output you say that the output with the red, yellow and white  cables is AV 3 check your tv manual to see which output is for HDMI the just switch to that output and there you go!

    hope this helped

  4. Hmmm that's awkward. Usually when you use the HDMI cable on the PS3 it will automatically detect that you are using an HDMI cable and will switch to that output, then it test your display to see which resolutions it supports. You can also select and deselect which resolutions you already know your screen cannot support. Not all HDTV's with HDMI inputs support full 1080p, by the way.

If your TV does indeed support full 1080p resolution, try using a different HDMI cable. Make sure you are setting it on the right HDMI input on the TV also.
