It's been on my mind for a long long time, since I read a article thinking it was MaxPC* mag about how Microsoft was working on bringing down the wall between PC gamers and Consolers. In that they were going to try to allow. Both the Console and PC worlds to join together in a game and play one another.

So since there isn't much obvious info just googling it.

Question

I ask is it possible to host a Private Server and have the PS3 and PC connect to it. So one another can play each other?

- With added note that this is without internet connection.

- And possibly wireless

  1. It would depend on the game mostly, but to my knowledge, no current PS3 game will allow this.

If you installed linux on the PS3, and hosted, say, a Quake 3 linux game on it, you could do what you're asking.  But tha's just turning the PS3 into a computer.

  2. no there is no way to play multiplayer with pc and ps3. sony doesnt support that for now and will not support in the future because of the different hardware (that was the problem with unreal tournament 3 which was supposed to support this)

Different hardware means different experience and sony doesnt want some of their users to have problems with it. It is a very high risk that noone, not even microsoft can take. For every single problem the users will blame the company and the game even if this is not the case
