PS3 Playstation Network?

Question

I'm living in Pakistan and got a 40GB Japanese PS3 and GTA IV, I updated my PS3 to 2.17 to play GTA, and wanted to sign up for playstation network, when i tried it told me i needed to update the software so i downloaded firmware 2.40 and installed it, but when i went back to sign up it told me the software neeeds updating, PLEASE HELP i dunno what to do, is my ps3 messed? why do i still have to update?

because my friend, updates are coming out one and another, i myself live in the us and if you are on the same update as us, you only have a few more before you are caught up we are at 2.42, so maybe u aren't to far ahead of that

Try updating to the newest software, Or call sony. Which will be hard because you brought it from Japan.. Update to  2.42 and try it again.

Don't worry, the latest version is 2.42. That's why it displays that message.
