I'm looking for a recommendation for an inexpensive Surround Sound system for the PS3. UK stores preferred.

  1. All you really need from a surround system is something that can support 5.1 Dolby Surround, and  has at least optical audio input.

Receivers start at $50 that have this functionality which should be OK.  Speakers are where you want to splurge though.

How big is your room?  In my old place, I actually used a decoder and speaker set made for a PC.  They weren't very powerful or anything like that, but for $300 I had a working surround system that was quite adequate for small rooms up to 10 feet by 10 feet or so.  My current place has a much larger family room, so I had to upgrade.  Although I do plan on using the old computer surround system on my PC or in the bedroom.
