PS3 good blu ray player????

Question

is it a good buy as compared to other blu ray players

are there any ups or downs?

I've been using my ps3 to play BluRay movies for quite a while and it's AMAZING. No downs at all, trust me it's more than amazing. Very stable, quite, and the picture is great. You might wanna get an additional ps3 remote control (like the one that usually comes with dvd players), it's better than the controller.

Stand alone BluRay players are often compared to the PS3 in magazine reviews - and often the PS3 comes out ahead in video quality.  The cell-processors in the PS3 give it a huge engine to use playing video.

The PS3 is a sweet Blu-ray & DVD player.

Sony put out firmware updates that gives the PS3 more features for playing back movies...

Yeah I'm a fan.  The blu-ray player is top notch, loads way faster than stand alone players like the s300.  Even if you don't play video games it does a lot of other nice stuff for the price.  Play videos/mp3s/pics off any computer wirelessly on your TV, web browse, you can can even do time lapse video when your not home(I like seeing what my dogs do).

Def worth the money

Actually, the Ps3 is currently the ONLY bluray player worth getting as it will be upgradable to profile 2.0.  It does in fact have some audio quality issues, but still remains the only logical choice for bluray.
