PS3 help Disk Recognition

Question

recently my cd drive has stopped recognizing disks, the ps3 system takes them in fine and will eject them fine when i press eject, but the game or movie does not show up in the cross bar. ive tried all of my games and movie and none of them are recognized. what is wrong with my system? do i need service?

have you tried making sure that your firmware is up to date?

you probably will need service, if you bought your ps3 within the last year it should still be under warranty and wont cost you 150 dollars to have it sent to them and have a refurbished one sent back to you

Tr using a cleaning CD (don't use cheap ones - they can do more damage than good). If this won't help - contact Sony.
