  1. Yes, the 80gig PS3 is going from $499 down to $399. Also, Sony is discontinuing its 40gig version. The September PS3 will loose backwards compatibility, will only have 2 USB ports and will also loose its card reader. The new PS3 will though come with a DualShock 3 controller instead of the SixAxis.

I would recommend grabbing a 80gig MGS4 bundle now so that you may keep all of the current features, etc.

  2. yes ther will be a drop but insure if its in september.. the only reason is their taking out the ability 2 play ps2 games

  3. Yes, Sony announced it. However, it's not going to be the same as the 80gb we have now. It's going to be the same thing as the current 40gb, except it will have an 80gb hard drive. This means, it won't play PS2 games, will only have 2 usb ports instead of 4, and won't have card reader slots. And it will be the same price as the 40gb now. I suggest get the 80gb now

  4. It will be on August 27th by the way.

This new 80gb version isnt a real 80gb. Its a 40gb upgraded to have a 80gb hardrive. This means that this new PS3 will have all the things the 40gb had. No Flash Card Readers, No Chrome Trim, It will come with the DualShock controller instead of the SixAxis controller, Not backwards compatible with PS2 games only with PS1 games, and its $399.99 just like the 40gb version. Because of this new change, they will discontinue the original 40gb PS3.

If you want a price drop for the original 80gb version, then that will be by the end of this year or the beginning of next year.

    Hope I helped!

  5. It's not really a price drop. They are discontinuing the 80GB model and upgrading the 40GB to have an 80 GB hard drive. This means there will no longer be a PS3 model still in production with any PS2 compatibility.

  6. no! no! no!

they are taking the 40GB system giving it 80GB HDD and a dualshock 3 thats all

    no ps2 games
