PS3 static/glitchy graphics

I'm experiencing static/glitchy graphics on my 40gb PS3. I really dont know how to word this because I cant find any search results of anyone with this problem. A way to describe this is when you go to the movie theater you see BLACK SPOTS and LINES FLICKERING on different parts of the screen at random times. Or if you have an old TV and switch to a bad channel you see a STATIC SCREEN and that hear buzzing noise. Now imagine SMALL STATIC SPOTS FLICKERING on different spots of the TV at different times. This is what Im experiencing on multiple televisions. Ive tried 4 different standard televisions and 2 different HDTVs. Ive tried using the composite cable (stock cable) and a HDMI cable and both give me flickering.

I am only getting this static when playing two of my three games: Grand Theft Auto 4 and SKATE. A employee at a game store told me he does not have this static when playing GTA4. Also the static is only seen when I am playing those two games and not when Im in the XMB or watching videos or doing anything else. Ive dont troubleshooting with Sony and it didnt work out. Employees are clueless and probably havent even played the PS3 in their life.

On Grand Theft Auto 4 the flickering is most noticeable on the radar. There are black spots flickering on the radar on average every 7 seconds. I know Grand Theft Auto games are supposed to be glitchy but what Im experiencing on GTA4 and SKATE should not be passed as OK by the developers. Definitely not next gen quality.

  1. I have both games and they do not do that, the problem seems to be with your video out cable supply from the ps3 it self take it back and get a new one, if you bough it from some where repuable you should have no problem.

  2. I've never heard of anything like this happening with a PS3.  I've never played GTA4 or SKATE on mine, but if it isn't happening to your other game, then it's obviously not normal.  Try playing the games on another PS3, like one you could rent from a store like Hastings or something.  If they work on that, then it's definitely a problem with the game, or game save.  This suggestion's really gonna suck, especially if you've been playing for a long time.  Try deleting one of the games from the PS3's hard drive.  Then reload it and see if you're still having problems.

If so, do the games have the same manufacturer?  If they do, try renting another game they've made and see if you have the same problems.  If you do, then it's a problem with your PS3.  Try contacting Sony directly about the problem if that's the case.
