PS3 system update 2.42 errors?

I just installed the 2.42 system update for the PS3 last week and it's been working fine. But, I just heard from my friend that his friend who has a PS3 decided not to download it cuz it creates some errors in the blueray player or something. Have any of you had any trouble with the 2.42 update creating errors? I hope there is no problem, and that that was an isolated incident.

I heard about it. I was worried, but the number of those messages was small, so after a while, I installed 2.42 on my PS3, no problems (crossing fingers).

I dunno about 2.42 errors, but i remember there was some trouble with the 2.40.

I remember hearing of some people having problems with their PS3's after the 2.42 update, but from what I understand, it was just an isolated incident with a very small number of PS3's. I read about it on a gaming news site about a month or so ago, but haven't heard anything about it since then so I guess it's not really a big issue.

I know that the 2.40 update caused a LOT more problems for people with PS3's, but I haven't heard much about people having problems after downloading 2.42.

On one site, one guy stated that after he downloaded 2.42, his PS3 wouldn't read Blu-ray disks anymore, but I only saw about 3 or 4 people leave messages on that particular site about their PS3 having issues after downloading 2.42 but that was it.

As a matter of fact I haven't updated my PS3 to 2.42 yet because I've been a little worried about it too, but I might just go ahead and update it because I've heard nothing else about it since the day after the 2.42 update first was avaliable.... I don't think you should have to worry about anything though.

Ya I read on a message board on a gaming site about some people who had probz wit 2.42 but it wuz only like 2 peeps.  So, dun worry.  I installed the 2.42 on my ps3 wen it wuz first released 'n i never had any truble.

Yes, there have been a small number of PlayStationon 3s, which, after instaling the 2.42 update, no longer read blu ray discs. Mine is one of them, sadly. I installed the update the day it came out and havent been able to play any of my disc-based games since. previously downloaded games and games downloaded after the update still work just fine, its just the system no longer reads blu ray discs.

I've been checking for updates everyday, but it seems Sony is in no big rush to fix this problem because of the low number of ps3's it affected.
