I want to get a PlayStation 3 for the Blu-Ray capability but I am only going to get it if it outputs true Dolby Surround sound without having to shell out additional cash for a receiver and/or unique cables. Will a PS3 work out for me?

  1. I'm afraid you will need a Home Cinema receiver to do anything with the Dolby Digital output from the PS3 - it has a digital optical output port for that purpose. If you've got a surround system with an optical input then that would also work - but you'd need to buy an optical cable.
