Question:

PSAT and SAT questions?

I took the PSAT in the beginning of Sophomore year, and I scored a 1080 (I kinda blew it off...). I know it's not that great, but how would you rate that score? Also, when am I supposed to take the SAT? What would a good score be to get in a good college? I'm entering my Junior year by the way...

  1. First off go to this website below it has all of the testing dates for the SAT 2008-2009.

    http://www.collegeboard.com/student/test...

Now secondly i feel what your going through. I also did bad on my PSAT but the testing conditions i was in sucked like h**l. Honestly if your very serious about getting into college(just like me) esp a good one you need to bring those grades up like practice practice in an SAT prep book. They should have those selling in the book stores. Cause your grade isn't very good at all. You need to practice practice practice and study like your life depends on it also what I would advise you to do is go through a PSAT practice book and look up all the vocab words you don't know and make index cards out of them. This helps alot. At least try to get a 1500 or more on the SAT. you have all this year and next year to get it up. for me its a bit to late and have to work extremely hard cause I am going to be a senior this fall in high school

Good luck to the both of us.!

  2. definitely take the PSAT again, if you manage to score about a 2170 or so, you can qualify for national merit scholarships which is great to have on an application. You take the SAT whenever you feel like it, but i recommend earlier rather than later just in case you do bad. 1080 is awful btw, not gonna get you in anywhere. 1500 is average so aim for that to start out with

  3. take it your junior year before you ask that question... and try this time the PSAT =  $ for juniors

  4. Your PSAT score is below the average score of about 1500. You can increase your score if you study with a book. I recommend Princeton Review and Tutorfox new SAT guide, http://www.tutorfox.com/satguide.html

With both books I improved my score from 1660 to 2120 in only 2 months of summer. Good luck, and let me know if you need any more help.
