Paris Saint-Germain do suffer in the absence of their top scorer Nene. The Brazilian is suspended for the trip to Caen on Saturday which means Carlo Ancelotti will have to look somewhere else for inspiration
With 13 goals and five assists this season Nene has been involved in 36% of Paris Saint-Germain’s goals this season in the Ligue 1. This shows the importance of the Brazilian in the club’s performance. Nene’s contract will expire in June 2013 and PSG are
keen on extending his lease.
The winger has been the club’s most consistent player this season but will be suspended in his side’s trip to Normandy where they will face Caen in a Ligue 1 encounter. The absence of the 30-year-old means that Carlo Ancelotti will be forced to look elsewhere
for inspiration.
Since arriving in 2010, the former AS Monaco man has been absent in just 12 games either due to injury or suspension. And of those 12 matches, PSG have won just 6 times – a stat that clearly shows why Nene is so highly thought of among the Parisian club’s
hierarchy.
This season, Nene missed one game in the Ligue 1. That game was against Stade Rennais (day 2 of the Championnat) which ended in a 1-1 draw. At that time, Nene was in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Brazil-c2858 to spend some time with his daughters.
Ancelotti now has the opportunity to test the depth of his squad and to see how much the side can cope without the presence of the influential Nene.
Last Sunday, in Dijon (1-2 win), Siaka Tiene fully compensated for the absence of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Maxwell-c25051 at left-back position. Ancelotti therefore, can expect someone else to fully compensate for the absence of Nene.
One cannot wait for the tactics that Ancelotti will implement without the presence of Nene as the Brazilian has been a good support for the likes of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Javier-Pastore-c18082.
However, such a scenario clearly proves that Nene has become an indispensable part of the squad and his absence could hurt Paris Saint-Germain a lot. The timing of the suspension is also a wrong one as Montpellier trail the league leaders by just a solitary
point.
