Hi, im thinking to hook up my PSP to my 32" HDTV which has component and composite cable, im not sure, but, does the component provides better quality in a psp than a composite or it doesnt make a difference since its just a psp?

to be honest i would like to go for the composite one, cuz i have component connected with my Xbox360, so i dont wanna plug and unplug all the time, but if it does make a different in video wise quality, i would like to go for component even for the hassle. Thanks

  1. its very simple:

if you plan on using the psp to play games on the tv, then you must get the component cables.

composite cables do not support 480p. the psp outputs games in 480p.

  2. From what i've heard, you can only watch videos, pictures and listen to music with the composite. To play games on your TV you have to go with the component.

  3. Component. You can pass a 720P high definition signal thru component. Composite is VHS quality.

In order of preference, least preferable being first...

    Composite

    S-VHS

    Component

    HDMI

As for using both...easy...get a component switcher. They are pretty affordable these days with HDMI now being the dominant video format.
