PSP custom firmware HELP?

Question

Hi i just got a psp and i want to put custom firmware i have a 2 gb mem stick also But i was reading you must open the battery lift up a pin to put the firm ware on and then buy another battery and use that one without any mods on it i was wondering sence im a cheap guy do i have to buy another battery or could i just filp that pin back down? Also can u give me a link that shows a well easy good way to put custom firmware on a psp light or slim.. thanks, Thomas

you could flip the pin down, but its very brittle and might just break off.

on the slim you can just cut the board and then fix it with a pencil
