PSP freezes while playing umd games

Question

It will read the game then i'll be playing for like 5 minutes, if that, then it freezes. the psp doesn't shut off or anything. it just freezes. i know it's not the games because i tried it on a new game and a used game. the laser light lights up red and the motor thing spins, then it just stops spinning when it freezes. any help? any place to get it fixed besides online?

Probably a bad UMD laser, you can buy a new one for about 30 bucks online but make sure you get a good guide because the install is pretty involved. Check out http://www.squidoo.com/psp-repair They can show you how to fix anything on your psp:  firmware, the LCD screen, joystick, whatever.
